Global Job

A global job is assigned to each Bayer employee based on their role and responsibilities. It is a grouping of related positions that have similar tasks and work. It's used for various purposes, including skills identification, reporting, and authorization.

Job Catalog Organization / Navigation

The catalog is organized hierarchically to capture professional job content / work / expertise. Each job is part of a job group (highest level) and job family.

  • Job Group –  Broad groupings of jobs that may align with one or more professions (e.g. Research & Development / R&D, Marketing & Sales, Finance)
  • Job Family – A collection of logically-related global jobs within a job group (e.g., jobs under Biological R&D, jobs under Chemical R&D)
  • Global Job – Groupings of one or more positions that have similar tasks - where common work activities can be described in a generalized job description

To navigate the Job Catalog we recommended that you start with the Job Group that best captures the work that you do, and then proceed to a likely Job Family and then review the jobs within the job family.  You can also search job descriptions by keyword.

NOTE: Job groups are NOT the same as business functions/organizations within Bayer. For example, employees working within an R&D business function may be in jobs classified under a range of job groups – including General Administration & Services, R&D, Information Technology.  Conversely, employees in jobs within the Information Technology job group (e.g., Data Scientist) could work in a variety of business functions - including Human Resources, Marketing & Sales, R&D and Information Technology.
